A GAZE INTO SALVADORAN AUDIOVISUAL ART AT THE REINA SOFÍA
From June 19 to 28, Madrid’s Reina Sofía Museum will host Los reyes de la página roja (The Kings of the Red Page), a program dedicated to contemporary audiovisual productions from El Salvador. Part of the series Other Visions of Central America, this selection has been curated by Salvadoran artist Patricio Majano, this year’s resident at the Instituto Cáder de Arte Centroamericano—an initiative promoted by the Reina Sofía Museum Foundation and the museum itself to support research and dissemination of Central American art.

Ronald Morán's individual exhibition, Por encima del Jardín (Above the Garden) (2021-2022), with which public activities were reinstated at the Marte Museum in San Salvador, has become a paradigmatic exhibition, not only as a new consecration of one of the Central American artists of greater international recognition, but as a sign of the vision of an institution that is committed to experimentation and accompaniment in the practices that link contemporary art and social imagination.
GUADALUPE MARAVILLA EXHIBITS IN MoMA AND OFFERS HEALING SESSIONS
Guadalupe Maravilla: Luz y Fuerza exhibits sculptures and other pieces by the Salvadoran artist while also hosting Healing Sound Baths for the public. “I create new mythologies that take the form of real and fictionalized rituals based on my own lived experiences,” says Guadalupe Maravilla.

Artists who have that ability to approach and distance themselves from reality have always caught my attention. Ronald Morán, (Salvadoran) is one of them; in this case, he offers us a double distancing: the distancing of a mimetic tradition that recycles reality with repeated images to the point of vertigo and, on the other hand, the distancing forced by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Y.ES CONTEMPORARY & TERREMOTO - GRANT FOR ART WRITERS
The Y.ES annual grant for Art Writers aims to promote art criticism by supporting coverage of contemporary practice in and about El Salvador. This year, a grant of $500 is awarded to a writer from anywhere in the world to produce an article to be published on Terremoto’s international online platform. Application deadline: July 15, 2021
